The City’s Information Technologies Department (ITD) recently filmed and edited the Fire & Police Memorial Dedication Ceremony on April 30, 2014. The ceremony features remarks from the Fire and Police Memorial Committee, Mayor Gerard, and other distinguished guests. The new memorial (located in the NE corner of West Side Park) is a tribute to the Champaign Firefighters and Police Officers who have been lost in the line of duty. Bad weather caused the ceremony to be relocated from West Side Park to the Champaign Council Chambers. ITD staff reacted quickly to the last minute change of location and helped facilitate this touching ceremony. The video will play numerous times on CGTV over the next year. It is also available for viewing on the City’s website and YouTube channel.
