Interstate 74 – Night Closures for Sign Truss Removal and Replacement

Revised Tentative Schedule

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that Interstate 74 will be closed at various locations between Interstate 57 and US 45 (Cunningham Avenue) for removal and replacement of sign trusses on Interstate 74. Due to inclement weather, the contractor’s schedule has been pushed back and will resume January 12th. The all stop road closures remaining are only in the westbound lanes. Lane closures will continue in both the east and west bound lanes. All lane closures are restricted between the hours of 9:00 PM and 5:30 AM Sunday night through Friday morning.

Full road closures will be limited to 15 minutes per closure. Full closures will be limited to the hours between midnight and 4:00 AM. All lanes of Interstate 74 will be reopened the following morning by 5:30 AM. Message boards and the State Police will be used during the road closures.

The overall project has a revised anticipated completion date of February 9, 2014, weather permitting. The contractor for the $523,585 project is Collins and Hermann.

Motorists are advised to slow down, obey posted limits and drive carefully through this and all work zones.
