Each year October is designated Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Statistics indicate one woman in four will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. On October 3, 2013, the Champaign Police Department, along with the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Center for Women in Transition, and Community Elements sponsored a Domestic Violence Expo at Garden Hills Park from 4:30-6:00 pm. Representatives from each of the organizations were on hand to distribute information and answer citizens’ questions.
