Police Search for Information on Hit and Run Accident (600 Block of E. Daniel Street)

The Champaign Police Department is asking for the public’s help to provide information regarding a possible hit and run accident, occurring in the area of Sixth and Daniel Street on September 28, 2013, sometime between the hours of midnight and 4:30 a.m.

Officers responded to Carle Hospital for a report of a 21 year-old Champaign man who sustained several fractures and severe injuries. The man reported leaving a local bar in the area of Sixth and Daniel Street around midnight. Sometime around 4:30 a.m., he woke up in an unfamiliar area and realized that he had been severely injured, but could not recall any details of how he ended up there. The man accessed a GPS app on his cell phone to determine his location, which turned out to be in the area of Green Street and Prospect Avenue. He believes that he may have been hit by a car somewhere in the campus area, but was then moved to a different location, where he regained consciousness. The man also reported to police that both of his shoes were missing. According to hospital staff, the patient’s injuries were consistent with being hit by a car.
