811 North State Street Demolition

811 North State Street DemolitionThe building often called the old Ice House at 811 North State Street originally was used to manufacture ice for railroad refrigerator cars. This property was purchased by the City in 2010 for future channel and detention improvements along the West Fork of the Boneyard Creek, which borders the north side of the property.

The building is in poor condition and its demolition is recommended by a structural engineering consultant. The worst portions of the building were demolished in 2011. On August 20, 2013, the City Council accepted a bid of $86,500 to demolish the remaining structure. The demolition contractor is Evans Construction with subcontractor Steve’s Trucking doing the field demolition. Steve’s Trucking plans to start work on the demolition on or after October 1.
