Feed the Thing During Turn-over

As the fall semester begins at the University of Illinois, the City of Champaign is launching a recycle event to assist those moving out and moving in on August 18-26, 2013. The goal of the event is to provide students living in multifamily buildings (apartments with five or more units), fraternities, sororities, and Private Certified housing the opportunity to properly dispose of cardboard that doesn’t fit in their ‘Feed the Thing’ carts. This helps reduce the amount of materials entering the waste stream.

Participants in the Feed the Thing recycling program can take their items to the dumpsters located at any of these locations on the following days:

August 18-23
400 E. Chalmers between Fourth and Fifth Streets

August 21-26
500 S. Third between White and Springfield Streets
400 E. Healey between Fourth and Fifth Streets
100 E. Chalmers between Locust and First Streets
300 E. Chalmers between Third and Fourth Streets
600 E. Clark between Sixth and Wright Streets
800 S. First between John and Green Streets

Cardboard will be collected at all these locations anytime during these dates. Information is also available at feedthething.org.

Champaign residents not in the multifamily recycling program have curbside recycling collection available through their garbage hauler at no additional cost to their garbage service. Residents should contact their garbage hauler directly for more information.
