On Friday, July 26, 2013, Varsity Striping Company will begin work on Washington Street between Neil Street and Walnut Street. This work will change the existing metered parking along the north side of the street from parallel to angled, as well as add seven parking spaces along the north side of the street.
The added spaces will help support redevelopment efforts and new businesses along Washington Street. It is also the intent to improve pedestrian safety for those crossing Washington Street by encouraging slower vehicle speeds in this section.
City crews will follow-up with the installation of new meter heads over the next two to three weeks. In the interim the existing meters have been bagged to eliminate confusion.
The City requests drivers pay attention to the ever changing traffic control and drive with care through the work areas. City staff apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this work will cause area businesses, employees and visitors, and appreciates the cooperation of everyone in order to maintain a safe environment.
