Police Conduct Shooting Investigation – 2400 Block of N. Neil Street

On June 22, 2013, at 6:44 PM, officers responded to the 2400 Block of N. Neil Street after hearing shots being fired.  While investigating the incident, a male gunshot victim arrived at Carle Hospital’s emergency room.

Preliminary information indicates that a female, who was in the area at the time, ran to a car when a handgun was pointed at her.  The male driver of this car was shot during the altercation.

Detectives are currently conducting interviews with witnesses and attempting to locate the suspect responsible for this crime.  Police would like to inform the public that this crime does not appear to be related to other recent incidents involving firearms in Champaign.
