Police Respond to Shot Fired Call (1000 Block of Northwood Street)

On June 17, 2013, officers responded to the 1000 block of Northwood Street for a report of shots fired.

Officers received information that two males had been previously involved in a physical altercation. At 4:07 AM, both males saw each other while standing in the 1000 block of Northwood Street. One of the males pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the other. The suspect fled the area on foot and headed northbound on McKinley Avenue. He has not been located at this time. The 25 year-old victim was not physically injured during the incident.

Police are currently investigating this incident and are searching for the suspect who is described as a black male, weighing approximately 165 pounds, 6’01” tall, and last seen wearing a white t-shirt with dark pants and a red hat.

It should be noted that this crime does not appear to be related to the recent incidents in Champaign, involving firearms.
