The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that work on the bridge carrying Windsor Road over Interstate 57 will require night closures on Interstate 57 on the nights of May 28, 29, and 30 for the setting of the Stage I bridge beams. The interstate closures will begin at 10 PM and will be reopened the following morning by 6 AM. Interstate traffic will be detoured utilizing Monticello Road, US Route 45(S. Neil Street), Springfield Avenue (Illinois Route 10), Mattis Avenue, and Interstate 72 (Church Street for WB, University Avenue for EB) as well as the Interstate 57/72 interchange. The overall project has an anticipated completion date of November 1, 2013, weather permitting. The contractor for the $2,376,785 project is O’Neil Bros. Construction. Motorists are advised to slow down, obey posted limits and drive carefully through this and all work zones. Due to the high volume of traffic, motorists may want to consider alternate routes.
