The City of Champaign Police Department is partnering with Illinois Indiana Sea Grant, City of Urbana Police, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, University of Illinois Police, and WCIA to host permanent locations for residents to dispose of unwanted pharmaceuticals safely.
The permanent drop boxes will be located at the police departments in Champaign, Urbana, and the U of I. The ribbon cutting for the program will take place on May 24th. If you have unwanted pharmaceuticals to dispose of before then, you have an option this weekend. This Saturday, April 27th is the DEA’s National Take Back Day and some Walgreens in town will be participating in a disposal drive. For more information: www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov
