The Champaign Police Department is currently investigating an overnight shooting that occurred at the Red Roof Inn, located at 212 W. Anthony Drive.
At 12:46 AM, officers responded to the Red Roof Inn and made contact with a man who reported being shot. The victim was lying on the ground in the parking lot and was in need of medical attention. He reported to police that while meeting up with the two males in their hotel room, both men brandished a gun. At this time, the victim ran from the room and was then shot by one of the suspects.
Both suspects, whose descriptions are not being released at this time, fled the area by car and have not been located.
The victim was transported to Carle Hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound.
Police are currently investigating this crime and do not consider this to be a random act of violence.
