Bike to Work Day 2013

The Champaign Planning Department has been coordinating with the City of Urbana Planning Department, The University of Illinois, Champaign County Bikes, the Public Health District, the Regional Planning Commission, the Champaign Center City Partnership, the Urbana Downtown Business Association, and the Mass Transit District in helping to organize Bike to Work Day 2013. Bike to Work Day will be Wednesday, May 1st this year. This will kick off a host of events over the entire month of May. Some of the highlights of the month will include:

May 1st – Bike to Work Day
May 5th – Tour De Champaign 2013
May 8th – Bike to School Day
May 15th – Ride of Silence
May 15th – Bike Summit in Normal, IL

Among others!

There are currently ten bike stations being planned, which will be located throughout Champaign-Urbana, and serve refreshments and give away t-shirts to people who are riding their bikes in the morning on May 1. People who are planning to bike that morning can register at www.cubiketowork.org. Bike to Work Day is a great way to recognize and promote the physical, environmental, and economic benefits of biking to the individual and the community.
