As part of a test project with 3M, Varsity Striping and Construction Company installed new markings along Mattis Ave. from Springfield Ave. to John St and along Bloomington Rd. from Prospect Ave. to Hagan St. The new pavement markings were installed at no cost to the City. 3M paid for all of the materials and installation costs, and Varsity Striping will monitor the performance of the material over the next year.
The new marking product being installed is a “modified polyurea.” Advantages of the new modified polyurea material are that it can be applied at temperatures less than 30 degrees, it has better adhesion, and it holds its reflective elements longer.
