On October 22nd, the Information Technologies Department (ITD) hosted a Digital Divide Resource and Information Fair at the Douglass Branch Library. Approximately 50 residents attended to learn about public computing centers, affordable Internet services, free computers, and other services available to help improve the digital literacy of Champaign’s underserved residents. The resource fair was free and open to the public and included presentations by local agencies and booths where citizens could learn more about local services. IT staff also publicly announced the availability of mini-grant funds to help improve Champaign’s public computing centers and help bridge the digital divide. ITD thanks everyone who attended and other City staff that helped make the event a great success.
