The household hazardous waste event was a great success! The City of Champaign collaborated with the City of Urbana, Champaign County, Village of Savoy, and the Illinois EPA to host a household hazardous waste collection event on September 29. The event had great attendance with 1,555 vehicles that brought hazardous waste from 2,293 households. Items collected at the event included paint, gasoline, motor oil, pesticides and herbicides. These events help dispose of these items properly and help keep our ground water clean. Event attendees were given a magnet with tips on what to do with the hazardous waste in the future.
