Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project

Work is continuing this week on the installation of a new 24-inch storm sewer on Birch Street between State Street and Grandview Drive. This work will help alleviate flooding problems along Grandview Drive and on the eastside of Hessel Park. Installation of the mainline pipe was completed last week and inlet installation in Hessel Park will take place this week. Work crews will also pave the trench across Grandview Drive and reinstate two private drives on Birch Street that were crossed by the project. Weather permitting, final ditch grading and yard restoration will also take place this week. Work is expected to be completed by Friday, September 14, 2012.

Work is also taking place in the John Street watershed with the installation of additional storm sewer inlets upstream of the Daniel Street/Willis Street intersection. The new inlets will tie into the recently completed John Street Watershed Drainage Improvement Project. Inlet installation will also take place at the intersections of William Street/Willis Avenue, William Street/McKinley Street and Daniel Street/McKinley Streets. A total of nine new curb inlets will be installed upstream of the Daniel Street/Willis Street intersection as part of this work. The expected completion date for this work is Friday, September 14, 2012.
