On July 4, 2012 at approximately 10:24 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the intersection of Thornton and Cruising Lane for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Champaign Police found a 20 year-old Champaign woman lying in that intersection with a gunshot wound. This victim was transported to Carle Emergency Room where she was later pronounced deceased.
