Champaign police are currently investigating a shooting which occurred in the 50 Block of E. Green.
On May 28th at approximately 1:30 AM, Police were notified there was a shooting and responded to the 50 block of E. Green where they found a 17 year-old male who had received a non-life threatening injury from gunfire. Police located a handgun on the ground near this male and placed him under arrest. This arrestee stated he just left an event in this block and was shot by an unidentified person. This arrestee was transported to Carle Hospital for treatment for his gunshot wound. Once released from the hospital, he was transported to the Champaign County Jail for Unlawful Use of Weapon by Felon.
Police are continuing this investigation and are asking for the public’s assistance with any information on this case.
