Police Investigate Bank Robbery (First Financial Bank, 1611 S. Prospect Avenue)

Champaign police are currently searching for a robbery suspect who fled from First Financial Bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police received information that a man entered the bank at approximately 9:06 a.m. today and handed the teller a note which demanded money. Bank employees did not report seeing a gun, but stated that it was implied by the suspect. The suspect then left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash; direction of travel is unknown.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 28 years-old, with a “scruffy” goatee, 5’5”-5’6” tall, 130 lbs and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans. He also wore a black leather glove on his left hand.

Twelve employees were in the bank at the time; however, none reported being physically harmed.

Police are currently searching for the suspect and is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
