North Staley Road Improvement Plan Pre-Construction Project Open House

On Tuesday, May 1, 2012, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., in the Champaign Public Library – Robeson Pavilion Room C, 200 West Green Street, the City of Champaign will hold a public open house to present the North Staley Road improvement project to be constructed this summer, 2012. City staff and the contractor will be on hand to answer any questions relating to the project. You may view the Open House flyer in its entirety at ci.champaign.il.us/Staley-Road.

This project focuses on improving pavement along the 3.25-mile Staley Road corridor from Springfield Avenue (IL 10) to Bloomington Road (US 150). Improvements will include full depth pavement patching, asphalt mill and overlay, shoulder repairs/widening, pavement markings, and sidewalk improvements along the south section.

The project is expected to be awarded in April by the City Council, and construction will begin in May of this year. To expedite construction, the improvements will be constructed under full road closure, and signed detour is proposed along Springfield Avenue, to Mattis Avenue, to Bloomington Road.

The City is aware of the impact that closing this section of Staley Road will have on residents and businesses along the corridor. An early completion incentive has been authorized for this contract to attempt expediting construction.
