Champaign Officers Proudly Wear Sesquicentennial Badges

Over the next year, Champaign police officers can be seen wearing gold or silver plated commemorative badges in honor of the City’s 150th anniversary.

The sesquicentennial badges, purchased by the officers, are worn to promote this important milestone in Champaign’s history and to celebrate the history of the police department. The badges are a replica of those donned by officers in the early 1900’s and will be worn from May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011.

“The officers designed the badges to commemorate and celebrate the history of the City of Champaign. We are very proud of our history and are honored to be wearing a replica of the badge worn by the officers who served this community over 100 years ago,” says Police Chief R.T. Finney.
