National Telecommunications Week

METCAD 9-1-1 is joining other 9-1-1 centers around the world in celebrating April 11-17 as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. This week, sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International, and celebrated annually, honors the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment and render life saving assistance to the citizens all over the world. The dedication and effort behind the scenes of every emergency and routine call entitles these men and women to be called the “first” first-responders.

Locally, METCAD 9-1-1 and other public safety answering points handle hundreds of thousands of calls per year, providing a lifeline for citizens and first responders alike. Their professional demeanor and dedication to doing the job right is being celebrated this week with several events designed to recognize their work.
